On our San Francisco Food Tour of North Beach\Little Italy and Chinatown, we always have a great time celebrating the holidays. Every neighborhood starts to get all fixed up and starts to make some special foods for this of year.
It does not get very cold here, so don’t have the snow and cold weather that other places do. On the other hand, it does not very hot either, so it’s some of best weather of the year. Even with that we make the excuse that it’s cold enough for hot apple cider and Irish coffee. It’s really not that cold, however it’s a good excuse.
Around the city, everyone has holiday decorations up, this year, around City Hall, they’re having a winter carnival. We do ours without snow, since it’s never cold enough for that. They even managed to open up three ice skating rinks around the city.
On our San Francisco Food Tours, we’re still enjoying pumpkin and other fall squash, along with some great soups, such as butternut squash or pumpkin soup. Added to the sautéed squash in dishes, it’s really good. Between the special events in San Francisco and the special foods here, we have a great time enjoying the holiday season, even if we don’t have snow.
