Every time that I go on one, I feel like I’m almost be at home watching television. If I want to go and experience and area, walking is the only thing that works for me. On our San Francisco Food Tour of North Beach\Little Italy and Chinatown, we find the same is valid. Walking is how you get to experience an area. On our San Francisco Food Tours, we find that the food is the other reflection of the area.
While we enjoy trying different foods on our tours, we’re not really into quick bits, we like to sit back and savor most foods. I find that most good foods have complex flavors. If one eats it too quickly, you miss a lot of the complex flavors of the food. That seems to true whether it a recipe or a single ingredient. Taking time to savor gives you a chance to enjoy all of it, to take it all in. The same thing seems to be valid for walking versus being on a bus. Being on a bus doesn’t give you a chance to savor the area. It’s doesn’t feel like you have actually experienced the area.
All in all, walking and food seem to have one thing in common. It’s a way to savor an area, just a delicious type of food.
