For many people, the question is whether you are a dog person or a cat person. In San Francisco, it seems like most of us are dog people. That could that is accurate, or it seems that way because I’m a dog person. The result is that we tend either indulge or overindulge our dogs. On our San Francisco Food Tour of North Beach\Little Italy and Chinatown, it’s always interesting to see how many places have a water dish for dogs. Many places, especially that have outdoor cafes, will have dog treats, as well.
Dogs and cats seem to give the City a civilized nature, at the same time it gives everyone a reason to bond. Everyone seems to really enjoy talking about their dog and cat’s behavior and whether they are a pure bread or a mixed breed. At the same time, they tend attribute their pet’s behavior based on their breed. It could be accurate it could our way to try explaining away our pet’s behavior.
On our San Francisco Food Tours, we see lots of people who enjoy hanging out in the cafes with their dogs. And other dog’s owners like to ask questions about some else’s dog that they see. It could be real interest, it could be away to start a conversation, it could be a way to bond or it could be something entirely different.
Whether it’s a dog person or a cat person, we all look for ways to connect. And it’s that connection that connects all of us.
