Innovating at Home

There are sometimes that I want certain comfort foods.  I’m not sure if it’s the flavor, or their comforting nature.  Yesterday, I felt that desire.  For some reason, I had a desire for meatloaf.  And, some reason, I had a desire for turkey meatloaf.  I’m not sure why, I just had the desire.  The bad news was that I didn’t have any ground turkey or ground chicken.  I had some skinless chicken breasts; however, I don’t have a meat grinder.   If I was on our San Francisco Food Tour of North Beach\Little Italy and Chinatown, I could probably find one, however now it is not the time to go out buy things.

I came up with an okay solution, not great, but okay.  I poached the chicken breasts and then used my food processor to process them into something resembling ground chicken.  After I used that to make meatloaf, the result was passable enough to satisfy my craving for meatloaf.

On our San Francisco Food Tours, most of our stops have all of the equipment that they need.  While I’m at home, I don’t always have everything that they do. Typically, restaurants have a lot equipment that I do at home.  However, with a little ingenuity, I came come up with some creative solutions.
