While there are many people concerned about the national elections. Here in San Francisco, we’ve got not only national elections, but state and local, as well. From the perspective of our San Francisco Food Tours, we ask ourselves does this bring us together our pull us apart.
There have numerous times in our country’s history when we had to make a choice about whether to move forward or backward. When judging candidates, we look at whether their comments appeal to the best or the worst of us. For example, when we give some a San Francisco Gift Certificate, we hope to left their spirits and give them a special experience.
For someone running for public office, we think the same criteria should apply. Do they experience joy when they lift someone’s spirits? Do they se an accomplishment when someone’s life is better. The reality is that when one group in our society is hurting, we all are hurting. When we all feel happy and fulfilled, we are lifted together.
When looking at people running for pubic office, we all should look at the history and their comments and thoughts. If they hope to lift us all up, they will lift us all us. And that is how we move forward together.
