Traditionally, this time of year, we find Chinese Years Cake in Chinatown. It’s a great way celebrate the New Year’s celebrations. From the street fairs to the Chinese New Year’s Parade, the entire city, not just Chinatown comes alive. For San Francisco, it also really shows why we are so different. We not only embrace our differences, we enjoy them. Some places may worry about people from other places, we welcome them. Given how more fun it makes the city, we wonder why other places do not do the same.
On each of our San Francisco Food Tours, we get to experience how much more fun San Francisco is with a variety of people. Each group brings their own customs and foods, so the result is that walking down the street in San Francisco, we get to experience a wide variety of cultures and foods in the same couple of blocks.
We almost always find we end with a wide variety of friends and neighbor that enriches each of lives. For other areas who do not do this, we wish we could get them to understand the fun that they are missing. Experiencing new things keep one alive, experiencing new things make life continually interesting. It is the difference between just surviving in this world or living. It is what makes the city a great to place to live, work and visit.
